[quote]About the time and near where the 10 victims were struck in the 3200 block of Esplanade Avenue, cyclist Frank Rourk saw the driver of a dark Dodge Charger spin out on the neutral ground, jump out of his car shirtless, run to the corner of North Lopez and Bell streets, lay down on the sidewalk, and lose consciousness. “This guy was trashed … (and) blind drunk,” said Rourk, who initially did not actually realize any people had been hit. “If you talk to him in 24 hours, he’s not going to remember doing any of this.” MORE: LINK ]

This guy was going over 80
“Another onlooker, Dane Barrymore, was smoking a cigarette outside Canseco’s Market when he saw a dark sports car heading riverbound on Esplanade at what seemed to be 80 miles per hour. The driver got stuck behind a white vehicle, so he veered the sports car into the bicyclists’ lane to try to pass the white vehicle on the right.
“It just happened there were people there – bicyclists,” Barrymore said. Barrymore said he saw two women and one man get struck.
Barrymore said he saw the driver of the sports car then speed up to what seemed to be 100 miles per hour, hit another car and then spin out on the neutral ground a couple of blocks away.”

More info
Cyclist Frank Rourk told The Advocate he saw the driver of a dark Dodge Charger spin out on the neutral ground of Esplanade. The driver jumped out of his car shirtless, ran to the corner of North Lopez and Bell streets, laid down on the sidewalk, and lost consciousness, said Rourk, who was pedaling in the bike lane on Esplanade and chased after the driver.
Rourk said he and two others managed to rouse the driver -- who seemed extremely intoxicated -- back to consciousness.
Rourk said he told the driver, “I’m pretty sure you’re the guy who wrecked the car. You better go back there.”
The driver responded by asking if he had killed anybody. He then said for someone to call his father and that his father was a policeman, Rourk said.

Picture on NOLA shows a Camaro. That could be the car the Charger hit though.

Sounds like he was driving the Camaro.

The Esplanade crash driver’s car is smashed up, airbags deployed. Windshield wipers occasionally sputtering. Car did a 180 after 2nd crash, so it’s now pointed lakebound.

Well that doesn't look or sound too good. 2 counts of Vehicular Manslaughter in Orleans Parish is not thing I want to go to jail for.

Going with the "my dads a cop" defense??
Bold strategy Cotton

p driving drunk. It’s not that damn hard to not drive drunk. At least vehicular homicide is a crime of violence now so he’ll do a lot of prison time.
Unlikely

Sad three of the 8 who were hit are in critical condition in addition to the 2 he killed. This moron just ruined a lot of people's lives tonight.

I think the guy from 2 yrs ago is already out of jail.
Maybe one day society will take this seriously.
