That area is absolutely the ghetto. At best, it's the dividing line between campus and one of the worst neighborhoods in the city.

Stop lying to yourself.

Not triggered at all. I'm a very conservative guy. But all the idiots here are amusing. Thanks for your concern though.

I drove by it right as everything was happening and wondered what was going on. That apartment complex isn't in the ghetto. It's on highland road about a 1/4 mile down from the Chimes. It sits right past Aster, which I will admit is like the dividing line. However, it's still about a five minute walk from there to campus and on highland road. Not like some house that sits way back off of highland between Aster and N. Roosevelt.

When you head north from LSU, particularly on the residential streets, once you get to a street named after a President, you are at Yellow Alert, at a minimum.

That was true in the 1980s, 1990s and I'm certain it is true now.

Right close to student apartments but doubt there are any students living at the Highlander Townhomes.

We never see a headline like this in Fayetteville or SMU.

Thanks for the lesson on the area I lived in for ten years, but I'm pointing out that the area reported is an apartment complex on the 3000 block of highland, which is almost all upscale gated/controlled student housing, not the random ghetto to be found as you continue down highland or towards nicholson. The area they are reporting is essentially northgates, not the president streets.

yes, I suppose people making assumptions about possible crime in an area of close proximity to one of the most notoriously shitty areas in BR are just racist. They should be objective and not make assumptions that is has anything to do with the people who make that area so shitty.

It is like 100 feet from it.

My parents owned a condo right there. They sold it and bought one behind Louies a few years ago.

Lots of shite in BR is close to the ghetto. That doesn't make it part of the ghetto. At least three of those apartment complexes on that block are marketed as upscale walking distance options for students, they are controlled access and parking and relatively new. I've never been to the one they're reporting in the article but it's also gated and looks to be condos.

Several friends of mine live in those older gated condos right there. Directly next to Campus Crossings, but not the ugly white places. They don't seem to have incidents inside their small condo complex, but everything around them seems to.

I've walked to their place from Chimes and vice versa many times just fine, but there's no doubt it could turn sketchy easily. I wouldn't walk past their place.

Last time I was in that area I legit saw a guy score Heroin and shoot up in broad daylight while pumping gas.

Bruh. Your fricking examples couldn't be dumber. I am VERY familiar with all 3 cities.

Fayetteville is fricking Mayberry and Highland Park has it's OWN POLICE FORCE who once arrested Jerry frickin Jones. They don't frick around and they go PREVENTING crime rather than responding to it. Profiling like a motherfricker.

That’s the one my folks had a unit in. Never had problems the 8 or so years they owned it. Used it for their kids to live in and then for football. Always hated waking there at night though. The gate probably helped at least.

One of the idiots that stole the John Deer from Tiger Stadium lives in one of the units.

Even though it’s not far, I like my parents condo behind Louie’s way more.
