My baby girl is 24 and soon to be married. It scares me to death knowing I could have a grandchild having to grow up in what is surely coming.
I feel exactly what you said.
Unfortunently

Do you have health insurance? Or do you "plan for that" also?
It is the same fricking thing. Some folks may not have the money saved as such a fine financier as you. So, having a back up with only paying a few extr bucks a month may not be such a bad idea,
Don't be such a dick about it. It's just another way of looking at something.

Can't really think of a dealership that doesn't sale warranties.
I can only say what I've seen in my 26 years of dealing with them. And after 26 years, I think they are a good investment.
If anyone doesnt want to purchase one, dont.

I am not sure about all, but I know I have dealt with several that kick in from the date of purchase. Had numerous folks throw shite fits over them.
I guess one could discuss this with the F&I manager before purchase. But I have seen it enough that it gives me pause .

Of course they are trying to make a dollar. It is a business.
Same as every Shell station asking if you'd like a Snickers every time you check out.
Doesn't mean they are shady or anything. It means they like to make a good living and are offing something useful that someone may have otherwise not thought of.

They are absolutely worth the money!
As a tip, wait until about 30k miles before you purchase the warranty. It should still be the same cost as if purchased with the vehicle except you will not lose 3yr/36k of it running concurrent with the factory warranty.
I deal with them daily and have seen them cover some pretty spendy repairs. Hell, a particular 2016 Tahoe has had the extended cover over 13k in repairs in the last year alone. He pair 2600 for the warranty. It has a lifetime power train and has covered both the transmission and the lifters.
And you are correct on the electronics. They will all fail at some point.

Was there as well. Tickets got a lot better when Nebraska got kicked!
My dad, brother and I made the trip. Watched Miami mudhole Stanford while my feet were on the backstop.
Was a bucket list item for me. Making the trip with Daddy and Big Bother just made it that much sweeter.
And seeing Harold Reynolds watching from outside the pressbox on his day off was cool as Hell too.

The one in Cleveland sucked donkey dick last time I was there, I am pretty sure it has since closed.
I remembered the one in Tupelo as a kid and thought I should try it while over there. Bad idea

The Mall of Memphis had one, It looked out over the ice skating rink. Literally was the board at one end of the rink.

Try a 5th Avenue!!
It blows the Butterfinger out of the water. Same ingredients but entirely different flavor.

Was never a huge fan of the "shoe shows", but I spent way too much time in that place. Any time we hit Memphis. at least two of the guys would start begging to go.
I always wound up having a good time though,
