Hypo: someone wants to get a law degree with the end goal of being a partner at a large law firm in Baton Rouge or New Orleans as soon as possible. What would be the best school?

Given the price of each, LSU is more than sufficient and I would say that even if the job was in New Orleans

Top 10 percent at either school will get you your pick of jobs in the state.

Therefore. Whichever is cheaper for you. And it will be LSU.

Is this just a preference for LSU or they don't think Tulane people will stay in state?

LSU is cheaper and a better education. Has some of the best teachers in the country. No brainer

LSU puts more of an emphasis on making sure you pass the Louisiana Bar Exam, it’s significantly cheaper, and law firms in state give more credence to a law degree from LSU than firms in other states would.

If you want to go work in Boston, New York, or DC, sure.

But good In-state firms may hire from the top 15-20 percent of Tulane and only the top 10-15 percent of LSU.

If you figure you’ll be somewhere between the top 10-20, but not higher or lower, Tulane might be better.

The old joke is that a Loyola grad equivalent equals three Tulane LLMs or one LSU 2L (part time).

As practicing lawyers in everyday law, I’d put my LSU class up against that of any school. The system back then made us shrewd and tough.

For national opportunities, Tulane is far more visible.

Doesn’t matter. Be first wherever you go. You’ll get a biglaw job.

That being said, LSU is seen as the best.

This may be a step to far.

Cheaper, yes. Almost as good access to in-state jobs, yes. Better? Nah.
