Just for the people who read this and dont know any better, that boat would not have had one of the OTs favorite river pilots on board. Just a regular ol capt with an unlimited license.

The cat fish are always "thick" there by the grain elevator docks so fat and greasy they aint good to eat. Fun to catch though, The line boat captain makes around 150 to 200 I am kinda outa touch having retired. Not sure why I know its wrong but every one calls them tug boats even though that is technically wrong they are push boats. 30 barge tows are not unusual and in low water even bigger tows are seen.

Well technically a Master of Towing is an unlimited tonnage license for inland and or Western Rivers IIRC.

By definition, all towing endorsements are limited. You have to meet certain sea-time requirements and complete different TOARs in order to apply for the specific towing endorsement you want. There are different towing endorsements for near coastal / oceans, western rivers, great lakes, etc.

I've got one. I'm just saying a guy with a master of towing on western rivers wouldn't refer to his credentials as "unlimited tonnage" that refers to a different type of license
