The tugboat was identified as the Cooperative Spirit.
"Two sunk, the remaining 27 were in the process of being corralled," he said at 7 a.m. Sunday.
Coast Guard crews would assess the damage to the other barges and to the bridge after the sun rose, he said. Well damn

A vessel with the same name was involved in a fatal crash with another tugboat earlier this year.

Sounds like a lot of barges for one tug. Is this typical?
Kind of like a multi float tandem at Mardi Gras I guess.

How many barges of oats would it take for a section of the river to turn into oatmeal?

This is why these guys make 400k a year, if not for the captain all 29 would be lost.
