This might work well for his base, but not for the majority of people outside of it.

He was elected president and while many people voted for him just because he wasn't Hilary. He still has a big enough base that he can still make a splash if he gets them to think they way he wants them to think.

Plus, I think he has an unrealistic view of how many people believes what he says. He was quoted by that Billy Bush guy, saying that "you can tell the people whatever and they will believe it". So I think he looks at all of this as "selling the American people" and that's how he deals with these things.

I'm convinced that's why he won.

That’s not why he won. Yeah, it may have worked on some folks, but a silent majority voted for him because they didn’t want to end up like San Francisco.

I legit laughed out loud last night when NPR played a clip of our GEOTUS speaking re: the importance of Repubs voting in 2018 elections: “Your vote in 2018 is even more important than your vote in 2016 (applause). Well, I don’t know about that. Who the hell wrote that line?”

Houston sports Trump is also a great follow. It's like a paint by numbers account. Anyone could run that.

I think some of the name are clever and funny or well earned (Rocket Man, Pocahontas).

i do the same thing and give people who annoy me funny nicknames but I don't do it in public tweets. Its for my own private amusement and only a few people know when I nickname someone.

I had to work with a guy named Tim who was maddeningly and deliberately stupid. He frustrated the entire workplace. I ended up referring to him as "the Timbecile" because he truly was a special breed of imbecile.

It’s a Uuuuuge influencer. One stupid tag you hang on a guy on his Twitter persuades a thousand times better than some articulate argument. As long as it has the ring of truth and he sells it convincingly. Persuasion has almost nothing to do with formality.

There are two unforgivable sins in American politics: being boring or becoming the butt of the joke. Once you are laughed at, that is the death knell of your political career. See Quayle, Dan and Gore, Al.
And, let's be honest, there is no bigger collection of blowhards puffed up with their own self-importance than the American Left. Combine that with a crippling void of a sense of humor and that is prime pickings for Trump.
