Romans first used the term. It’s was Judaea before Romans wanted to spite the remaining Jews they didn’t kill or run off. Muslims are appropriating the name just like the land.

It does today, if did back when Romans changed the name from Judaea, and it did in 1947 just before the palestinians said no to the arab state proposal by the UN. Afterwards the unclaimed land ended up being taken by Egypt, Jordan, and Israel. That area has a sovereign state over it for most of its history including the Kingdom of Judah and Kingdom of Israel, and none were even called palestine much less controlled by palestinians until the Romans changed the name and not because of arab muslims. The area under the Byzantines was mostly pagans and Christians. Arabs invaded. Christians fought back including forming a kingdom twice before the invading muslims finally took over until the Ottoman Empire broken up.

Jews and Christians have better claims for area being their homeland than invading muslims.

Regardless The Polynesians didn’t even get to New Zeland until somewhere between 1280 and 1350 mostly after the Kingdom of Jerusalem ended. James Cook showed up in 1769. Some Dutch showed up in the 1600s.

Jews and Christians go back a lot further in what is today Israel.
