Now, you can draw that line between the last 2 weeks generally (mostly via Israel) and claim that this was always in conjunction with the US.
I've never claimed that action, even in the most limited form, was without risk of spiraling. I wasn't even on record as supporting this level of intervention. But I don't think it HAS to spiral.
Now Trump's comments just now shouldn't make anyone feel warm and fuzzy on that front, IMO.

Eight of the 12 years since Democrats have been in control of foreign policy and have gotten us into this state
History didn't just happen in one day its a culmination of decisions that were made before this
And this is not a pro-Trump position I was telling the trumptards on the political board that Trump was going to defend Israel as a part of his foreign policy and he was going to wage war against Islamic extremists as a part of his foreign policy
Iran was as large a part of this if not larger,, let em burn... eventually the Iranian people will have enough,, Then we can make a lot of money helping rebuild
