Yes, if you left the house that way on purpose. I usually assume they took their jacket off because it got hot, work got intense or the function wound down.

Shirt, no tie, v-neck undershirt, top 2 buttons open, with Jacket is the way

If it gets hot or the function devolves enough to take the jacket off, remove the tie too.

Serious question, how many industries is it still the expected norm to wear a suit everyday?

Besides my attorney friend, I don't know if I know of a single person who wears a suit everyday to work.

Have you been to Healing Place Church? How about those untucked shirts for Sunday singing

I blame Dino FaRizzo for that whole trend.

No suit (jacket), no tie. This is supposed to be understood like not buttoning the bottom button, or wearing brown shoes with a black belt.

It’s not really a matter of caring what other men wear, per se

Poors love the red button down under the black jacket look. And the jacket is two sizes too big.

Long sleeve shirt with tie, no coat, OK. It's usually, as has been said, work got intense or function is winding down. Coat was simply removed.

Short sleeve shirt with tie, no coat, ugh. Government bureaucrat, car salesman, no go. This is only marginally improved with a coat, but not showing cuff.

You're getting downvoted because 85% of this board has "good jeans" that they wear for weddings.

Shirt and tie with no coat is a no-no. Either take off the tie or add a jacket.
