True or False? The lockdowns made the riots worse than they would have been otherwise.

For me? The answer is true. The killing of George Floyd, followed so close on the heels of the Arbery story, lit a powder keg that had been building over the last two months. People have been inside throughout this period, many with no jobs, doing nothing but sitting on the couch and watching Netflix all day. This event occurred at just the right time to cause maximum damage/chaos in all of the major cities.

The riots are most likely a result of the lockdown.

100% true. I think lsupimp said it yesterday that history might call these the “covid breakout riots.” I could definitely see that.

True. It is one of the biggest exacerbating factors. I still contend that if live sports were happening, things wouldn't have gotten so bad.

False,

I don't remember a lockdown prior to the burning of Ferguson, MO.

People were already frustrated and broke during the lockdowns. The riots just gave them the avenue to vent their pent up anger and treat themselves to free shite they couldn't already afford. I'd say true based on that.

Do you remember the Ferguson riots expanding to just about every major city in America? Because I don't.

Maybe worse because people were getting paid to sit at home & had nothing better to do

Maybe not in every city, but IMO it served as a turning point to show that not shite will be done when people do burn their city and act in a lawless manner.

And that's the point. In a normal time, the riots would have likely been limited to just Minneapolis - as they were with Ferguson, Baltimore, and even going all the way back to LA in 1992.

True. The lockdowns will go down as one of the biggest blunders in the history of our republic.

There are a lot of factors. With the social media era and viral videos and this case has a way more of the population in agreement together than those previous cases.

Trump wasn’t running for election/re-election during Ferguson. These riots have almost nothing to do with Floyd. There wouldn’t be mass riots by the left if Trump wasn’t up for re-election.
