Odd tho, I've noticed massage parlors set up right next to big truck stops in "certsin" states. I looked up there reviews. They saying massages are costing 200-400.

Easily doable without a house payment.

could someone at say age 52 with no experience get into this kind of gig fairly easily with the right training, situation etc?

Respect. I couldn’t do it, been in and out of trucking several times and each time I get to a point where I’d rather do anything but another mile, my longest stretch being six years

Damn he’s basically me. Drove from age 27 to 45, last 12 years lived in a old Winnebago.
With the funds I’ve saved + unexpected inheritance from my grandfather, I’m in the process of (potentially) purchasing a trucking company. Going to some “boot camp” seminars in the spring to get a feel for how it works (one possibility is a FedEx franchise, another is an Amazon territory).
Might become an OT baller yet! We shall see.

What specifically? Would love not to be working when I'm 45, but would have to save and compound something like 2mil over the next 18 years

quote:yep go to cdl school for 4 weeks, call major carrier, get set up for orientation, go through training program and get you a truck and start hauling loads. That simple. My company will take you right away, bring u in for 4 days of orientation and pay you 800 for 4 days. Then train you for 3 weeks paying you 800 a week. Then you get a truck and start making much more money. Insurance is top notch. 1200 deductible and co pays and meds are cheap of nothing at all. My company will train you for your cdl for free. Live on the terminal, go to school and then go to orientation, training placement then your on your own driving.

That's awesome man! Where are you located?
Posted on 11/25/24 at 2:25 pm to BET
North Louisiana but would relocate to wherever the business is. Looking at options in GA, NC, and VA. If it’s VA then I’m gonna make a point of acting like the biggest redneck on the planet just to scare the beltway Karen’s.

FTR, I'm in year 8. Looking at 2.5 more years and I'll be around 1.4m projected. I'll be 38(i started at 27). Not a bad way to beat working for 40 yrs.
You'll still be working, $1.5 mil in the market generates $60k/year before taxes (4% rule).
Nice, but you'll still need to generate income. I'd think about investing most of it into income producing real estate.

I already know how it works. I know what I'll make and I'll shorten my workload to home every night and off every weekend. I'll have my.house paid off and racking in my int and I'll average 1500 a week on top of my investment. I'll be very comfortable. And actually NO, I don't have to work. Ever. I can easily live off 65k a yr without a large house note. Yes I can.
Don't hate on my game.

Hope you don't have to lose 200 pounds, quit smoking, and give up crank to enjoy your nest egg.
Really awesome plan if you start young enough. Hard to do if you want kiddos and actually be around for them.
Congrats on the bank roll, that's amazing

Are they both living in his truck now? I guess that works well if she works remotely.

The buddy is no longer driving. He accomplished the challenge, bought a $350k house for $300k cash then got the HR sloot. Keep up man
