You just called a Chevy a truck?

Wrong.
You mean every year they contract out diesels and then slap their name on them.
They've had diesels built by Detroit, Isuzu and even Opel. The last and only time GM tried to build their own diesel in house it was such a spectacular failure they never did it again. That was in the 80s.
I did read that they just tooled up this year to build their own diesels in house. We'll see how that experiment goes.

It's all horsehit gaming of the EPA fuel test. In the real world this turbo 4 will probably not bet much better mileage than the V8s, and it'll be a stressed motor
I always track my fuel mileage in my six-cylinder C-Class and I did the same when I had the turbo 4 cylinder C-Class. From what I remember, the four banger got about an extra 2 miles to the gallon on the highway. My 6 cylinder gets between 28 and 31 on the highway and the four banger got between 29 and 33.
That extra 2 miles to the gallon on the highway only equates to about an extra $75 in savings on gas per year. Definitely not worth the difference in driveability not to mention the point you made about a turbo 4 being a stressed motor. Anytime you use forced induction youre going to reduce the life of the engine, not to mention forced induction violates the KISS principle. Turbos and their Associated parts, are just one more system to fail on you.
I couldn't tell you about City mileage because I don't track City mileage. There are too many variables.

Your 6 cylinder is naturally aspirated? How much power does it make?

Just get a Tacoma
Why would I do that? The Colorado beats the Toyota in most areas.

It comes with a 2.7 liter turbo 4 cylinder engine.
I have no experience with the Silverado but I have a F150 Ecoboost which uses turbo boost but it is a 6 cyl 3.5L engine. I would be a little concerned with the 4 cyl design. I also would be wary if this model year 1 for this with any manufacturer especially GM.
My Ecoboost has plenty of road speed and can pull a trailer with no problem or engine strain. I get about 22mpg on 40 mile commute to work mostly. Towing a trailer it drops to about 12 mpg. I see Ford has a 4 cyl 2.7L Ecoboost engine but I am not familiar with it.
Not to be a Ford homer... I have owned GMC's in the past and they are great trucks too. Just happen to have the Ford now. Hope this helps

I was just curious what others thought. I would never buy a full size truck with a 4 cylinder. I am the same as you I am not loyal to any one brand. I have owned ford, chevy and dodge at one time or another. Currently have a Silverado with the 5.3 and I love it. As I said earlier I recently had a 2018 Colorado LT for a few days and that thing is a dream to drive and has a hell of a lot more power than I every would have imagined.

Chevy owners have been ragging on the ecoboost engines for years. Now they are imitating it
Nah, the Chevy will be reliable

Yeah Chevy owners are up late at night drawing up engineering designs for the new engines

My mom got a GMC Acadia with the turbo 4 and it is fine in that. She had 2 olderr kids and 4 adults in it and it had lots of spunk. I was concerned until I drove it, seems fine to me.
I was more concerned after I drove it with the shut off. I thought it killed too quickly with that new feature.

I would’ve rather a turbo V6 like ford did.

. It replaces it with -- get this -- a 2.7-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that produces 310 horsepower and 348 pound-feet of torque
That's about as much output as V8s had 12 years ago.

Umm.....every year they make diesels
And they don't absolutely suck like Ford's 6.0L and 6.4L diesels.
Navistar is going to start using Duramax diesels in their medium duty trucks this year.

Got a 2007 Tahoe with 302K on it. 5.3 litre. Just put an oil pump on it and a timing chain and went thru the tranny. All preventative items. Although trans was obviously tired. Oil pressure jumped right back to where it was off the showroom so that was needed. Timing chain that came of was incredibly new with zero wear. Got to rebuild front end soon as my BIL gets back from Virginia in it where he went to a race and needed the room. Wife just drove it to Indiana to visit. Uses a qt between changes but about all 5.3's do. Best V-8 ever made. Dash repaired and driver's seat leather had to be repaired in one spot. GPS has had a little stuff wrong. Replaced gen/alt, batteries, starter and a hundred or so bulbs and both front door handles. Brake jobs, shox plus other front end maint and it been hit on all corners but it is a boy dog.
Just sold my 2010 Silverado with 126K miles. Serviced it regularly but NEVER put it in the shop for ANYTHING except some front end repair and shox and bulbs and a brake job. The brakes started squealing once but it was dust underneath from running on a rough, dirt track looking at real estate. It started using just under qt between changes at around 90K.
Bad luck with Ford, 50/50 with Ram. F150 would take spells of not turning over, just wouldn't start and at the worst of times. And it quit. After driving the Silverado's it also seemed very clumsy with handling and was not responsive like Chevy. Almost sluggish. Had the small block V-8.

My 05 Z71 with a 5.3 has 187k miles and no issues except an O2 sensor and a knock sensor. At least once a week someone asks me if I would be interested in selling it and I just laugh. It may be a touch "underpowered" by today's standards but its reliable and pulls my boat just fine.

Isnt this an item that never needs to be replaced?
