Yeah it is. We ran Chevrolet for years on the farm and never had motor problems. Fuel pumps and filters were another story. We changed to Fords and have had two 5.0’s blow up around 165k miles.

I’m conflicted. I don’t like 3/4 tons because of the ride. I spend so much time in my pick up that I want one that’s comfortable so I drive half tons. We either have to risk the fuel issues with Chevrolet if we want to get 200k out of a truck or just start trading Fords at 150k. They get kind of shitty on the farm after about 3 years anyway.

Supposedly it functions like a diesel but is gas.

So it's got the cylinder head pressures of a diesel but it's built by GM?

Pass.

Anybody remember the last time GM built diesels?

The Germans have been putting 4-banger turbos in all the midsize sedans (528i, A6, E-class) for the last generation and are not having too many problems..just look at modded Subaru boxer motors.

And BTW, I've driven one of those turbocharged 4 cylinders in a Mercedes C Class and I own the exact same vehicle in the V6 and there's no contest. The V6 is so much smoother. The turbocharged 4 Banger was jumpy, laggy and just all over the place.

The old saying that there's no replacement for displacement generally holds true. You can get a lot of power out of four cylinders but a naturally aspirated 6 or 8 cylinder is really hard to beat for drivability. It's just smooth pulling all the way through the power band. No lag. No jerk. No hiccups. Like buttah

It's all horsehit gaming of the EPA fuel test. In the real world this turbo 4 will probably not bet much better mileage than the V8s, and it'll be a stressed motor.

You already can't get a manual in any full sized truck. The next thing they'll be putting CVTs in them.

If you like motors that have no low end torque, don’t make any substantial HP and can’t tow much

I bought a crew cab XLT for 31-32k last year. If you don't need automatic side steps, leather and arse massagers they aren't that bad. Just ignore the sticker price

Chevy is imitating it, not Chevy owners. Seems like owners aren't happy with it.

Need comprehension help?

I've never owned a truck and am nowhere near loyal to anyone. Just pointing out that your comment was idiotic.

I'm so sorry that I wasn't literal enough for you pops.

Chevy fanboys will hump whatever the company makes. That's the way it works. Ford fanboys will follow suit.

Toyota owners will drop in occasionally and say they will drive their 1992 styled trucks for a million miles.

The articles I read said that the amount of cylinders in use will vary according to how much power the truck needs at any given time. That sounds like there may be many kinks to work out. I think I’d hold off on buying one until the truck established a track record of reliability.

You're arguing the same dumbass point you originally made. There were a few posts right away before yours of people saying they didn't like it.
