Buddy is going through tough times, PTSD, OCD, and other issues that make it difficult for him to work with others.

He has been unemployed, living with mom for almost 2 years now. Has a degree in marketing from LSU, but he's unmotivated to go for a job in his degree.

Anyway, I'm thinking of careers where he can be on his own and thought about truck driving. Does anyone have experience with these local truck driving academies and the local job market for drivers?

If he's wreckless enough, he could totally be a truck driver.

I understand tough times but this may be an issue.

Sounds like he has a bright future at the DMV.

It's okay if you live with your mom. And yes, CDL drivers are definitely in demand right now.

The company I work for has dozens of idle trucks because we can't find drivers to man them.

No experience, all sales based. He doesn't have the attitude or temperament for sales. He needs something simple, away from computers and people.

Or the postal service. If he has PTSD then his "going postal" had a good chance of coming true.

A lot of jobs for truckers out there. I believe they said that over 50% will be retiring in next couple years, and they don't have enough to replace. So some are being paid to stay on, with companies begging people to come join their team.

It's a stressful lifestyle. Your friend will have to practice holding up traffic and camping out in the left lane. Can he handle that?

Sounds like he is lazy as frick. Everyone has "PSTD" when we realize we won't be a multimillionaire by 30 doing a hobby.

Swift treats their employees so well, they sold them all to Knight Trans.

Most drivers have to drive over the road for years if not decades before they can find a good local job that is worth a damn.

Basically when he goes to apply for a local job he will be competing with 20 other drivers that have been driving years.
