The wind just woke me up in the heights area. We lost power for about 30 seconds around midnight but that was it.

It’s always bad luck for Lake Chuck.
Ben Terry just said gusts of 40-50mph and still 5-10 inches of rain or more for Lake Charles and SWLA.

Man, its been a rough year for you guys. I go through there over to Laffy to see my daughter and was surprised at how widespread the damage was. That is a story that hasn't been told enough.

Just heard a loud boom; still have power for now. Fingers crossed.

Much more a wind event than I was expecting.

Steady moderate rain in Beaumont. Wind might be gusting to 20 mph but that’s it.

lost power in Spring around 5AM.
Steady rain and 20-30mph gusts.
Not even sticks or limbs down, just leaves.

At the rate and path of this storm all of south Louisiana could get eight plus inches of rain aand more at different local areas

I’m becoming more and more convinced that Ed Orgeron made a deal with the devil for the 2019 LSU season and south Louisiana has been bearing the brunt of the consequences of that transaction for the last 18 months.

Looks like most of SE Houston/Harris should be ok. 5-6 inches in the Clear Creek watershed, the channel is out of bank in the lower reaches, probably mostly due to higher tides. Upper reaches still rising but pretty comfortably within bank.

Similar story for Armand Bayou and its tribs. Got 4-5 inches and is handling that fine (TWSS). Especially the smaller tribs are ok given the lower rain rates. Mainstem seeing decent rises but nothing terribly concerning.

Other creeks and bayous in the east side behaving themselves, including Hunting and Carpenters. Only exception is those spots affected by tide/surge.

I wondered why rds was calling it a hurricane last night in his title. Didn’t quite make that status.

South Louisiana should be able to handle the rain with some localized flash flooding, but let's hope there's not a lot of wind. The grid is not too sturdy right now.

The 10pm update actually upgraded it to a hurricane with 75mph winds

In the areas that have power it’s more stable than it’s ever been.
