12z ICON, Candian, and GFS all show a system in the Gulf. I believe this is the first run that the ICON has had a system in the Gulf.

You can kind of see the same solution opening up on the GEFS, too. It kind of splits the vorticity with just enough surviving and drifting into the Gulf, but you can see the opening to the NE more than you could in past runs.

Guess the big question along with some other things does it go slightly north of the big islands or through them.

If it enters the gulf is there anything there to keep it from strengthening (shear, dust, etc)?

I’m having major eye surgery on Friday and would prefer not to deal with a tropical storm or hurricane too. I’m cooking freezer meals for two weeks ahead of time so my dear husband doesn’t starve to death while I can’t see, so I’m hoping not to lose power at all.
