I’m in Panama City, at my brother’s house. This whole city is fricked.
This big arse pine tree is on my brother’s house. A tree company just stopped by and looked at it. He said $2700 to remove it. That seems extremely high but I’ve never had to have this done.
We have a chainsaw but this SOB scares the shite out of me. We are not talking a 20ft crepe myrtle. I’m talking a 60’+ pine tree, resting 15’ in the air, half on a house, half supported by its own limbs.

Scheduling will dictate a lot now. 2700 seems like a likely average for that size, time and removal.

I’d imagine those guys can pretty much charge what they want for the next month or so.

Seems high to me but it's probably a supply and demand issue right now.

Up here we have winter so you can pretty reliably find someone to cut the tree for free if they can keep the wood. IDK if there are any hobbyist or what not down there that would need wood.

maybe so. Tree companies are charging the prices that they would charge regularly with hauling away, cleaning etc etc. But during emergencies, such as hurricanes, they can leave the wood by the road for someone else to pick up, and are making bank off of it.

You already have a chainsaw.. go get a ladder and your ballsack and put in some work, I'd never pay someone $2700 to get rid of that.

Insurance will reimburse for it, pay it and get it removed. Don’t wait, someone might not come around for another 2 weeks

A 4wd, a strap, two binder straps, and a chain saw.

Binder strap on each side of where you will be cutting the stump.

4x4 hooked high enough to roll it slightly as you cut.

Cut/roll, drop, remove top limbs and then roll it over and remove others.

Section and toss. Probably 8 hours of work for a two man crew.

Actually that might not be a bad price lol. I just asked my husband he sells tree work. He said he would charge $4500, and they are the middle of the road based on prices. Reason being, its on power lines. and the chaining down and stuff to make sure that the tree don't pop up, or roll around once the canopy is cut off. The prep work to even get it off the house would be quite a while.

Im guessing the took hauling charges off.

Good catch. Just wait a few weeks and the power company will do it.
