Everyone pretty much stated what we did. Pay for the extra seat and get cheap but light car seats. Most airlines let you board a little early and you have time to strap them in. We also let everyone get off the plane before us since taking the car seats out would slow those who had connections down.

Tablets, headphones, Dramamine, and snacks. Most kids are good for a few hours with those things before they are bored. Know that everything takes a little longer, but be prepared, make it an adventure and fun for them, and don’t show stress. They will feed off the confidence and be fine.

What I do is be a handsome single dad. Struggling with my kids in public is a good thing. Half of people are very nice about it

Spoken like a man who cheated on his wife or has a crazy ex baby momma.

Choose your fighter.

If none of the above are correct, I’m only joking. I’m sure you are a great dad and enjoy the time with your son They are a blessing

If you’re in position to do so, mail some items ahead of your travel (or order them online for local destination pickup).

Less to pack , which will be appreciated on game day. Safe travels!

My advice since you are flying Southwest. Board with family boarding and go straight to the last row of the plane. I still do this when flying with my kids who are now 6 & 4. You will be closer to the bathrooms and flight attendants. Also on the last row you will disturb as few people as possible if the kids do become unruly. On the last row there is a chance you could have a couple of open seats if the plane is not full.

Buy them a seat.

We always did.
You end up with a row.
So much more room if you are flanked by little kids instead of Megan Thee Stallion or some such whale.

2 year old in a super lightweight car seat in extra seat(Cosco is good and cheap). One year old strapped to your chest with carrier. Small portable white noise machine loud enough for them to hear but not so loud it will bother others(more for the 2 year old, the one will hear heartbeat). Snacks and whatever tools they are used to for self soothing.

Good luck

Ship them UPS to your hotel to be delivered on your arrival date. Make sure to use heat or cold packs depending on the season and your destination.

I have become what I always hated when I traveled a ton. That family. I hope to do my best not to impact the travel experience of others.

With all that is going on in the world, I wouldn't worry about this.

My advice is to not worry about this too much

Toddlers on a plane aren't any worse than fricking old people that won't shut up the entire flight (NOBODY GIVES A frick ABOUT YOUR BUNIONS, JANICE) or four drunk woo hags GOING TA NEW ORLEEEENS at 10 AM.

"Larry Businessman" who's flying middle seat in the B boarding class on Southwest and won't end his fricking phone call until the plane is 2/3 down the runway is a cwnt, too.

Did you pay for the ticket? Do your best to keep everybody in your group on an even keel. Chances are, you guys aren't the biggest assholes on the plane, no matter what happens.

My best piece of advice? Don’t worry about anyone around you. Kids are a crapshoot on a plane. We’ve had trips where neither of them made a peep. Others where one was screaming bloody murder for 2 hours. One thing that helped is we started trying to book flight around nap time. For our girls their normal time was 2pm. Most of our flights with babies resulted in slumber silence

Managing timing is definitely key. As well as your own stress levels that they will feed off. Two good pieces of advice.

1) do NOT worry about anyone around you. 99% of people are understanding that you’re not intentionally making them upset if they start losing their shite
2) snacks. Snacks snacks snacks snacks
3) If you’re big on no screens, throw that out the window. Routine stops on flights

My kids have been flying since 3 months and it’s honestly not as bad as you’re building it up in your head. Take them places, let them see things. It’s awesome.

Let the toddler run anywhere they want to into the terminal and just follow them around. It gets a lot of energy out before
