I am just waiting for travel ball dad to post “sorry your beta kid sucks at sports.” Always happens in these threads.

Travel ball parents live vicariously through their kids, and their kids’ athletic glory is a status symbol that gives their lives meaning. I mean it’s not really debatable.

Okay guy. Yea I’m so trolling about 10k. I’m well over 20k last year if you really want me to start adding all Baseball and softball and volleyball related expenses. Cutting out club moving forward.

Not surprising given that a dollar is worth about 75% of what it was worth two and a half years ago. If that.

Holy crap. If you’re being serious, then you are embarrassing yourself. If you spend that kind of money for your kid(s) to play a game…yikes.

I know you think it comes across as “look at how much I can spend on this!” But anyone with a brain sees it as “look at how retarded I am with money!”

It’s not bragging at all. It’s real world talk of expenses of some of these things and once you start adding a World Series week stay, you add 8-10 weekend or longer weekend tournament stays at hotels, haven’t even thought of gas costs if travel, volleyball dues are expensive, either sport you’re talking $300-$500 bats, it’s just a revolving door of various expenses. But this is our life for a few years, it’s what we enjoy and all this becomes our vacations and leisure time.

Honestly, it makes me very happy to be wrong. Because good lord.

Although come on. A guy named Chad? I had a reason to believe it was true.

Yeah. I go to my nephew’s games with my sister sometimes and both her current husband and ex-husband bond over yelling at all the coaches and umps all game. And they don’t even stand out from all the others that do it!

Some travel ball parents live through their kids not all. Mine didn’t start playing tournament ball until he was 11.

I’m on the oh shite side of spending for a child’s sport. Sometimes that’s the thing you have to do.

It’s helpful when Tennis and Golf associations just get to make up their own numbers.

ETA: it’s true. They’re the only tel sports that are self-reporting in the study, and they’re the only two with any real increase since 2019.

Also, these numbers don’t really add up across the board. Hard to trust them on the surface.

Breh y'all obviously aren't on the level of some of the dad's I know. They take their soccer kids to camp.... In Europe! Can't possibly get little landynn exposure to clubs in Italy unless they go over there and show them what's up.
