Ship Island, but I would recommend taking that slow

Ship Island has the best public beach in Mississippi waters. But most people either don't know it exists, or don't know how to get there, which is great!

One year they printed about 3000 signs you stick in the ground to advertise the rodeo and they accidentally put "Trapon Rodeo" on it, and they still put all 3000 signs out! We saved one as a keepsake.

The beaches in Gulfport/Biloxi aren’t that bad....it’s just more like a lake beach than an ocean beach.

Holly

For those of you saying Holly Beach, when was the last time you went there? Rita wiped out everything. They raised all the requirements and codes for houses/camps. There are nothing but new camps, a few RV parks and a few camper rentals.

It disgusts and saddens me that anyone from Louisiana would put down the beaches in Cameron. Do people leave trash? Yes, there are some trashy motherfrickers that plague all beaches. There are no paid beach crews that come along and rake the beach every morning. It's up to the public to pack out what they bring in or volunteers to clean up after people leave their trash behind. I've personally volunteered several times and Ultra drinkers, you are by far the trashiest people that visit (bud light drinkers are 2nd).

The beaches are huge, raw, untapped, beautiful and most importantly- Free to use by the public. There's no rental chairs and umbrellas or anyone telling you that "you can't set your chairs up here" or "this is a private beach". You can drive almost the entire length of beach from Holly Beach to the Sabine. It's not commercialized and overdone. It's a place to go and relax (however you choose to do that).

CPSO and Sheriff Johnson do an amazing job with little resources, policing the beaches and ensuring public safety.

Rutherford Beach is up there, but it does offer squaws from Creole.

Galveston is disgusting

The wife and I went to Galveston several years ago and the water there is about the color of what comes out my washing machine after cleaning work clothes that were worn to do mechanic work.

The Gulf in Florida has MUCH clearer water.

Crystal Beach across Galveston bay on Bolivar Peninsula. Good fishing over there though.

Good job on understating the obvious. Have you never heard of the impact that the Mississippi river has on the GOM?

Well no shite Sherlock. Been living in La. for 66 years, so I'm pretty familiar with how much silt hits the GOM every year.

I was just commenting on the water's clarity in different areas. And guess what, I actually know since the GOM along Florida is just a crows flight from the Atlantic, it is going to be much clearer.
