Transmission Replacement in GMC

Any of you guys had to replace a transmission in your GMC? Mine started having issues at 130,000 miles and I'm being told it's time to replace.
Have any of you replaced your transmission with one from Jasper? Have you been pleased with the results?

Jasper isn't as good as they once were. If you don't have a reputable transmission shop to use, I would buy one from gm and have your mechanic install.
It will have a nation wide warranty

130K?? Damn, I just sold a Mercury Grand Marquis with close to 300K miles and never a transmission problem. And people laugh at Ford products.

6 speed transmission?
If so it's the shitty torque converter that gm used. Just had to replace the one in my wife's Tahoe 2 weeks ago at 100000 miles. Had to replace the one in my truck a few years ago at 87000 miles.
I went with a local shop and had them rebuilt and they used a heavier duty torque converter, I forget the brand off the top of my head.
I've since put a 100000 miles on my truck with no issues. FYI cost was $4000 two weeks ago.

Where are you located? If in N.O. I highly recommend C & O Transmission located on Bienville St. in Mid-City New Orleans. Chris Oates is a damn good transmission man and been in the business for decades at the same location.

Oof. Had to replace the transmission in my wife's Traverse a couple years ago. Didn't make it 2 months before something new transmission related broke on it (can't remember what, but it was still under warranty).
I still have a local AAMCO and the guy that runs it is a transmission expert and he told me it was kinda hit or miss with those Jasper rebuilds. I guess I got a miss in mine because it was nothing but a headache.

For the rebuild and all the labor?

All GM trucks/tahoes will have transmission issues. The last 2 I've had (2015 & 2018) both had transmissions go out around the 100k mile mark.

I love GMC but they are notorious for transmission failures around 130K. Every transmission company will tell you. It's a shame.

Replaced under warranty, for the second time, at 90,000 miles. First was under 50,000. Didn't keep it much longer to have to drop a 3rd in it.

Yep, that was out the door.

Almost everyone that owns a GMC or Chevy has something going on with tranny's.

If you need a good transmission shop, try Keith at Powertrain in Prairieville. He is a friend of mine and loves working on transmissions.

Can't compare a transmission on a truck to one on a car bro.................................

Never had to and hope I never will. I always sell before the warranty is up

My coworker just had her Chevy transmission replaced at 130k. She apparently got quite a good deal and got it done in about 2 weeks.

I’m the head mechanic for a GM dealership, 130k miles, any dealership is going to sell you a new trans and drop and swap, most likely torque converter came loose and metal is all inside the transmission. What I been doing for my side jobs, is drop them out… rebuild them put a better converter in, smash them back in… I just did one 2 weeks ago for someone parts labor everything was like 2800.00
