Asked my wife recently if she wouldn’t mind living in the swamp. She said no because of the bugs and critters.
Dang! So close!

I wonder if those two things are related

I can’t really think of anything more insecure as a man giving a shite about how someone else spends their money.

You mean these geniuses that spend $150k on a new trailer that is now worth a 1/10th of the price?

All baws are addicted to depreciating assets.

Different strokes for different folks guess….
I wouldn’t personally spend my money that way, but some people do.. I’d rather spend on an appreciating asset.,,
You do you

Is there anything that screams “I’m horrible with money”
Yes.
Not understanding that it’s a better investment to live in a paid off trailer vs pay a mortgage on a brick house, while simultaneously using a camper to travel multiple weeks out of the year

I could get a 40K boat and feel like a king, but I don’t spend money like that anyway.

Where did you find Dodge for 55k with enough arse to pull a trailer and boat?

Head out to St Tammany where the trailer park and apartment dwellers have lifted 2025 pickups with chrome wheels in the driveway.

As someone who’s lived in trailers I would always think the same think. Why would you get a boat that costs more than your home? Im assuming puts more effort into boating and fishing than home maintenance and raising a family.

Nothing says trashy than financing a boat.

We have been casually in the market for the last couple of years since we have 2-footitis or more accurately want to move from a cabin cruiser to one of the large bowriders that have come out in the last few years. The prices have gotten staggering. It is near impossible to keep just the options page under $40k and that isn't counting propulsion.

Is there anything that screams “I’m horrible with money” louder than living in a trailer while also owning a $40,000 or more camper and a $40,000 or higher boat?
My father's boss (company's owner) was like that. But he owned the land and said that's where he wants to live. He was waiting until he got married before building on his land. That way he would be their house and she wouldn't ever ask him to move.

The idea is actually appealing. As a 40-something divorced guy with disposable income that's living in a house that doesn't feel like home anymore that I'm never at anyway, getting rid of the house and downsizing sounds great. I just need a place to park my stuff. Thinking more along the lines of an industrial style metal building with an apartment inside.
