Wrong. The issue with traffic is people not using cruise control and idiots driving in other cars blind spots.

I just got back from a road trip to Tennessee. Once I left the state, driving was much easier. As soon as we crossed the state line, it was like bumper to bumper thunderdome. I did not miss Louisiana drivers.

The problem is if you don’t tailgate, these dimwits take it as a sign you must want them to squeeze in for their next lane change like musical chairs. It’s nice to leave some cushion in case of a sudden stop at 75MPH but what the heck, go ahead and squeeze in five feet from my front bumper

You wouldn't have to worry about any of this if Louisiana had better infrastructure.
We unfortunately we don’t have better infrastructure. These idiots endanger everyone they are around just to feed a bizarre death wish.

You’re bitching about something that’ll never change.

BR is the only place I've been where traffic moves faster in the right lanes than the left ones.
Also on 610 in NOLA. Cars staying in the left lane going the speed limit, trucks in the middle going 45, and the people going 80+ in the right.

Personally I'd much prefer the assholes who switch lane to lane than the ABSOLUTE ASSHOLES who block the passing lane going 50 in a 55.

Traffic would move smoother if 18 Wheeler’s weren’t allowed in the left hand lane especially on I-12.

One of my newer moves is, if your position is secure from the rear, i.e., no one’s close enough to cut you off, jump in the right lane and gun it even if you don’t have a possible opening ahead back into the left lane, for the pure purpose of stressing out all the left lane lurkers and watching them clamor to cut you off.
Beats just sitting there in line to put some anxiety on those douchebags.
And oftentimes there will end up being an opening after all so even better.

Just stay in your lane.
I'll stay in my lane when the people in it stop driving below the speed limit on the interstate.
People driving slow in the left lane (and in general) are the ones causing traffic. That and people who brake for no god damn reason.

Not really. Jumping lane to lane actually evens up the traffic flow (unless it causes a rear end accidant), which completely shuts down traffic in LA. You would think people in LA have seen enough accidents through the years, but they still love rubbernecking. Add to that the fact that it is very difficult for 18 wheelers to start and stop in bumper to bumper traffic or up hills (think area just south of twinspan coming into NOLA proper for an example) and you should feel confident adding 15 minutes to every commute.

Why and the ever living frick are you people so short sighted in the game of traffic? You don't have to ride the bumper of the person in front of you but keep it at 1 car length max. If you take a still shot of I-12 from the merge to the bridge and everyone was within 1 car length the person at the 10-12 merge would actually be closer to Dalrymple. See how that works? If you close the gaps the people behind you would be further ahead, as would you. It is not dangerous to be within 10 ft of the car in front of you when you are moving 25 mph. Keep it tight and know your where you need to be would make a world of difference,

Uh... no one is arguing this point.
Thread is about other drivers weaving in and out causing a risk to everyone else.
Get on the ball son

but, i love that lane jumper guy.
left lane, right lane, middle lane. driving like he's in a nascar race. losing his mind because the vehicle in front of him is going too slow. back and forth, back and forth only to reach the next stop light at the time as me when i stayed in the same lane the whole time.

Agree, see it every day. I work in Slidell and I-12 is crazy on the drive home everyday. My favorite thing to do is to frick with the idiots entering 12 from Covington headed west. It never fails, everyday cars come from the on ramp and ride it as far as they can passing cars to jump ahead of everyone. If you try to merge into traffic as soon as you get to 12 I will let you in. But if you are passing cars riding down the merge lane, I will never let you in. I love forcing cars onto the shoulder

There is no way to leave a gap like that. Someone will always force their way in between.

I'm on the ball ma'am, that explanation is the reason that I jump lane to lane. Because so many drivers don't keep the gaps tight causing me and everyone else to be much further behind than we should be. The fact you couldnt put those 2 ideas together means you are part of the problem...fix yourself son!
