Ramrod had a thread on here a few weeks ago where he didn't pay one, they reported it to collections, it hit his credit, and he called and challenged it and got it removed. Search for it.

Make sure it's not like NOLA where the city will find and boot your car if you haven't paid.

Just confirming that I have seen them on credit reports.

Call and dispute IF it hits credit. It will disappear the same day.

"collections" is some wanna be law firm who will get a cut if paid.

DO NOT PAY

There's a reason the vans have basically disappeared, the gig is up

I'm pretty sure Louisiana is one of the states in a big nationwide lawsuit that says these companies can no longer report camera tickets to your credit bureaus.

LINK.

Yes, Louisiana is one of the 31ish states listed.

And as others have said, if you file a dispute it will be removed.

At the end of the day, is $25 worth it?

Well, since I don't live in Lafayette, they will have a hard time with jurisdiction. I'd love to see them drive to my house and boot my vehicle.

Fighting the outsourcing of law enforcement for blatant revenue collection and the denial of due process? Yes, its worth $25.

It's the principle of the matter. Like someone else said...a cop wouldn't write a ticket for 5 or 6 over, but these jackasses with cameras are?

It's a money grab. I respect the police for the most part, but this isn't the police. It's the city saying its to direct police resources elsewhere, when it's really just a way to generate more money.

Its the same shite that goes at the government. If you keep paying the $25, they will keep giving you ridiculous, sometimes illegitimate tickets. How long will you be ok with the government shitting all over personal liberties? It's very similar in nature.

So yes not paying and contesting any credit hits is worth it.

Yep.

ftr the one I received in BR was $117 and I wasn't even driving the vehicle. They have some statement on their payment form about how if you weren't driving that you can transfer responsibility to the person who was driving. So they can't prove that I was driving... and want me to implicate someone else. There is no legal requirement for me to do so.

I got the ticket in Feb 2013 and it was due in May. I tossed it aside and they sent me an overdue notice with a late fee tacked on to the original $117. I sent them an email letting them know I wasn't driving, I had no legal requirement to tell them who was driving, and that I never agreed to pay them any money. They replied back that my time to appeal the ticket had expired so I wrote back to tell them to shove their ticket up their fricking arse.

That was all to the BATON ROUGE ticket enforcement in CINCINNATI, OHIO. Then I got a couple of letters from some law office out of Arizona which I ignored. After that nothing happened.

It's all scare tactics.

Yep. Mine was $25 for about 5 over. Paid it and moved on with my life. If it had been more than $25, frick that.

It's the same thing as phishing emails. You may as well have just sent a Nigerian prince 100 bucks.

They send out millions of these things and gladly take the money of the, let's just say, 20% who pay.

Your credit report will tell you that there is an enforcement mechanism. I had to pay $800 to clear my record in order to build a house because I thought it was bullshite and unenforceable

Lmao! So if they sent you one for $40, that's not ok, but $25 is?

Makes perfect sense.

How can the credit company force you to pay a debt that you didn't agree to? Explain that to me.

I've seen no logical explanation of how they can force you to pay for something that you didn't agree to. If I signed for it, sure.

Interesting how some people have shitth credit companies, and others don't. Who's lying here?
