Anyone ever get one of these for speeding? I've heard they really aren't enforceable, and that the company that is actually issuing these has been under investigation in the past or something like that.

Got one in the mail about a month ago for doing like 5 over. The fine itself isn't bad (less than $100), but it's the principle and I still think it's bullshite. I drive past cops all day doing 5 over, that's pretty much a thing, aint it?

Third party company. Will be reported to credit bureau if not paid.

Your choice.

Got one over the summer, pretty much decided to disregard it because everybody says they don't pay them & there is nothing they can do about it. Well, over the weekend I got a letter saying it had been turned over to collections. So I'm just gonna send them that $35, originally $25, & call it a day.

Lmao! Nah. I forget where I got it, somewhere on Johnston maybe.

I really don't want to pay that shite, because I think its a bullshite money generator (a city councilman even said the same thing), and the camera company is incentivized to make sure tickets are given out (they get a portion of every fine). The city tries to cover their arse by having someone review it and sign that it was a violation, but that's it.

Got one 2 or 3 years ago... never paid. How can they turn you in for collections on a debt you never agreed to pay?

The "ticket" never showed up on my credit report and I haven't had any issues at the DMV.

If it gets reported then file a dispute with the 3 major bureaus. Less than a month and it goes away.

I've been told that the credit companies don't pursue it very hard though, because the debt is not something you agreed to. No signature. It's not like a citation that you are asked to sign.

Apparently they are pretty shitty at collecting on these. Apparently one cimpany racked up $46k in tickets.

I get these all the time. Just threw one straight in the trash yesterday. I don't even open them anymore. I have been getting these for years and have NEVER had anything negative on my credit report. I have excellent credit.

They will threaten you with official looking letters, etc. but ultimately they just don't go through with the threats because so many people pay them. Don't pay it! Maybe they will eventually get rid of these fricking things...

The same way a civil judgment against you can go on your credit report. Didn't agree to pay that either.

When I lived in Lafayette, my roommates and I used to put them on the fridge. Never paid one. Never has gone on my credit, but, they'd send me "final warnings" every couple of weeks. After a few months, the "final warning" letters stopped coming.

I am ok with the cameras. I hate people who put my life in danger by running red lights. If you follow the laws then you should support any attempt to slow people down or second guess speeding up for yellow lights.

Don't pay it!! This is exactly what they want. I have gotten so many of these "tickets" I have lost count (usually for going 5-8 MPH over on Camellia or Robley).

I check my credit report regularly and I always think something might show up. It never does! Stop paying these things people...

I've gotten 4 for 6,7 and 8 mph over and apparently not stopping completely turning right on red. This city can suck a fat one. I'm not paying a ticket for something a cop won't write a ticket for.

I did get a collection notice but only one and nothing was posted to my credit report. If you do get a hit, which I don't think will happen, you can just contest it and it will be expunged.

I've had no reduction in credit score since moving here and getting these ridiculous tickets.

Lil food for thought. The city released a report saying there was currently 12 million in unpaid tickets since installation of the cameras, but they just signed up for one year back in January I think.

We should make a damn sticky for this.

The only ones you should even consider paying are the ones issued in NOLA and that is because they will boot your car. Ignore all others.

I think that's just a little bit different than some company saying you owe money because their camera took a picture of your vehicle.

Every time this question comes up it's 2 responses:

- people who pay them say "you better pay or it will end up on your credit report!"

- people who don't pay them say "I never paid it and it never went to collections"

I pull credit reports daily for work, they 100% report. I have seen them under SafeSpeed and two other collection agency names, Portfolio and an attorney firm ending in LLC.

Didn't run a red light, didn't speed up for a yellow light.

You are a dumbass if you think this shite has anything to do with safety. It's an attempt to generate more money. I can only imagine how many people get tickets for 5 over.

GTFO.
