it is wild that toyota, or any manufacture, would let not properly cleaning the engine be a thing. Thats like the first thing you learn as an engine builder. Hell I'm not even sure something as basic as that is taught--just assumed

I see you've angered the toyota cult. These low cylinder, turbo engines are going to do terrible things for the reliability of trucks.

Hilarious considering ford ecoboosts have more power than a Tundra could ever dream of
Well this just isn't true
I came from an ecoboost and my Tundra has quite a bit more pep to it and pulls better. I haven't driven the new hybrid ecoboost but the hybrid Tundra still has more HP and torque than it. Hell it has only like 60 less pounds of torque than the TRX. It definitely isn't lacking in the power department.

Let me ask a question of you truck bros.
Why do truck companies keep abandoning dependable, reliable, proven engines and going with new unproven motors that by the time they work out all the problems and bullshite, they have damaged their own brand.
The number 1 factor that I hear most guys talk about in an engine is reliability. Not torque or speed or gas mileage. Reliability. Why don't truck companies seem to focus on that?

Cause the US government is enforcing insane fuel efficiency standards.

I was thinking about that right after I hit submit.

All the downvoters are welcome to a different opinion, but my post is factual.
I recconrnd Tundras and Lexus to people regularly, as they are excellent vehicles, but there are certainly more powerful and more fuel-efficient V-8's in that class.

There’s a lot of bias in most people’s opinions. When you look at fleet data, vehicles have been getting more reliable over time. That’s even with trucks that are far more capable than their predecessors.

You're right, which is why the 5.0 and 6.2 are the engines of choice to those in the know.
If you need a diesel, the Duramax and Scorpion lead the way.
If you don't mind the racket and the crappy NVH, get the 6.7.
All are subject to constant manufacturing "improvements", however.

Infiniti is about to roll out their new V6 3.5 twin turbo QX80. I expect the same results.
Type of engine shouldn’t matter in this case.
Nissan has been making TT V6s for 35 years.
Granted they’ve been making cars for 75 years and still screw a lot up.
