Tough time of the year for some people

Don’t forget about those around you that don’t have anyone this time year due to death, divorce, or separation. Check on them. Maybe take them a plate. I’ve been there. Nothing worse than being alone at Christmas with nothing but your thoughts.

Most definitely. And it's the perfect time to show the Christmas Spirit by inviting someone to join in the joy.

My father passed away 15 years ago on Christmas day. Took several years for Christmas to return close to “normal”.

Meh. Christmas is just another day

Just not the same after you lose both parents. Both died just before Christmas exactly a year apart.

Just dropped off some gifts at a nursing home for those that don’t have family. Didn’t call any of them retards… because they’re all smarter than most of yall

Visited with a long time friend this week. He had a stroke a few months back, is bed ridden and has now been diagnosed with Alzheimer/dementia. To top that off his wife buried her dad this week.
Visit was mid-morning and he was fairly alert, hopefully a visit and just rehashing some past "fun times" brought him some joy.
Has to be very tough during the "holiday season" to deal with losing a parent and dealing with a sick spouse of 50+ years.

this will be the 1st one without my dad and my wife's dad. I would have liked to share it with my mom, but when dad passed she went full tilt narcissist, and has played the victim card to everyone on my side of the family to the point that all look at me as a villain - just based on what she has told them.
sucks because none of them have bothered to know both sides, and not a one of them called and messaged my wife when her dad passed away.
thankfully driving to Branson to spend the week with my Sis inlaw and Brother inlaw - because they treat me like family, and not like a horrible son.
wish you all the very best Holidays

Damn, glad I’m not as miserable as you. I do it every year with my parents and family
Why would I lie to a bunch of people I don’t know on the internet about that? Touch grass buddy

This is nice and all but I am going to give you my perspective as being one of them people. I have no immediate family left, but I do have plenty of cousins and friends that I can do Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with I have multiple invites and I may stop by one or two places tomorrow but honestly I just prefer being by myself. Being around others families just reminds me that my family is gone.

Christmas isn't the excitement it used to be, for me.
My dad passed away a long time ago, in 1998. And that sort of shifted things around for Christmas and that changed family dynamics a little bit, but it was just different.
This year will be my mom's last Christmas and she can't do anything now. I used to look forward to the pumpkin bread she made every year.. And her gumbo was really good and not having that has just made things not feel like Christmas along with the weather.
With that said, no matter what we are dealing with someone always has it worse and if you ever have an opportunity to make someone's Christmas better you should absolutely do it.

I met Big Lee and saw all of the LSU stuff he had in his house. A girl who worked for him moved into a rental I was moving out of.
He was always nice to me. He looked better after getting his stomach stapled or whatever surgery it was.
All that being said, he was creepy with women.
Everything said about him was true but he didn't deserve to be shot down in his driveway by a demented old man.
I am by myself and enjoy the lack of toxicity.
Miss my elderly parents who both died 5 years ago.
Merry Christmas, Happy Kwaanza, Happy Hannuakah or Merry Festivus.
And to all a good night!

One of my best friends lost both parents and his brother. He has no family for the holidays. He comes and stays with us and does family Christmas with our families
