What's the ETA on this getting into the greater BTR area?

Really from the early afternoon and into the evening is the window for Baton Rouge.

Looks like the MDT halo has been extended for a few hundred miles.

Think the NWS isnt taking any chances today?

I think there is a strong possibility of this. It might be a narrow corridor and window of opportunity but I feel some region, as soon as it is pared down, stands a good chance to take the brunt of this set up thus necessitating a PDS watch.

My guess is southern MS into southwestern/southern AL.

Maybe probably

Wording is borderline High and there was internal talk of an upgrade but internal talk doesn't equal a final forecast product, so the nerds got burnt on that one

We often see PDS watches with these borderline High setups. However, SPC will obviously make the call based on what they are seeing later today.

I'll be honest, I have some doubts about the moderate risk, particularly into AL. But, all it takes is one or two significant tornadoes to make it a big event.

Maybe an area to watch today for stronger tornadoes.

Yes small marble to pea size hail being reported.

I am in the northern part of that particular warning. Will report when and if it reaches me.

Why? I do see that it's a more narrow area than last week, but does that translate to a lesser intensity forecast?
