So it's my fault I used the TOPS tuition match to go to Tulane and then family connections in the legislature to pay the rest with grants? Don't worry, I'll unfortunately probably live here for the rest of my life (you're welcome, Louisiana) because I'm licensed to practice law here. But don't think I won't take a vacation out of this place every chance I get.

With our state only requiring a 20, if you can't get some form of scholarship outside of TOPS, you probably don't belong in college to begin with. Funny, I read we actually have a shortage of welders and plant workers. Most of you guys should have done what your parents did. My path was also chosen because my dad was a corporate lawyer and he always told me I owed it to my community to earn a spot as an elite citizen. Everybody has a role.

You basically get a score of 20 for filling out your name on the test. This is sad.

this quote pisses me off

no

the state is saying "we're gonna give you some money because you earned it by actually paying attention and learning in school"

Damn, if "impromptu melting" was a section on the ACT, you might have scored a 91.

Really? 80% of minority students can't achieve an ACT score that is roughly in the 50th percentile?

You seem surprised by that. You shouldn't be.

You would actually get a score of 1 for only filling out your name. 1 and 20 are almost the same.

No problem. There was no sarcasm in my post either. 1 and 20 are almost the same.

Dammit stout!

I made a 36, and I was drunk and had also recently taken an online IQ test.

Did you use your family legislature ties to secure grants?

All of these recent articles complain about middle class kids getting scholarships and minorities having lower scores. Why not report the success rate of the kids that get TOPS. Who finishes college? How much did those that flunked out waste? No recourse to get that money back. Its wasted.

That post is loaded as hell. So much could be broken down by the OT and you packed it in a few sentences. Well done

Is that actually out there? I imagine it's pretty abysmal.

I know of some people who didn't have great ACT scores but still succeeded in college.
At least in my case, ACT and GPA were both considered. I got TOPS with a 2.3 in HS because my ACT was high

What was your act score? 2.3 seems low.

I scored a 29 as a soph, never took it again and dropped out of college after 3 semesters. ACT don't mean shite. I know a guy who I tutored to get an 18 just to get into ULL and he is now a financial advisor and doing great.

Again, don't mean shite.

And yet with free education from 1st grade through 4 year universities, they still find a way to wind up on food stamps and working at Taco Bell.
