It’s incompetence or a set up at a very very high level. That is to say, incompetent people were put on the detail on purpose knowing they’d frick up.

Looks like the donation was before he registered as republican. I once gave money to an ex of mine, doesn’t mean I advocate for her anymore.

It's a pretty well known tactic to register as opposing parties in closed primary states. I'm going out on a small limb and saying someone that young shooting at the only Republican president he'd have any real world knowledge of is in fact not an actual Republican.
I don't think anyone expected the shooter to be that young, and it's kind of terrifying someone that young either was radicalized to this level or that mentally gone.

The reaction of the kneeling sniper is not professional.
The multitude of female secret service agents providing sub par coverage is suspect.
The entire outfit looks like clown world. If you constantly train for one specific thing, you can’t act surprised when that thing actually happens, and they did.
