Ok, time out. I don't want to say never, but someone is going to need to explain to me how someone legitimately "spends" (which I define as money paid less the value of assets acquired) $33B in one year without anyone hearing about it before now.

Easy explanation. OP left the question mark off the thread title from the tweet he used as a source. Tweet author was being tongue-in-cheek.
NY Times article doesn't mention a spending spree as reason for divorce.
