So we are just about the 2 states not part of the great 48, the smallest state in the union and Mississippi? Wonderful.

Virginia is surprising

NoVa, Hampton Roads, and Richmond are all pretty strong economic areas. Schools are generally awesome, especially in higher ed. Generally appealing place to live. State govt is aggressive in recruiting major employers. Proximity to DC is a huge deal.

It makes sense.

Should be bottom 5 for sure

ETA: why the downvotes?

When I think of ease of running a business, I think of

1) taxes
2) labor costs
3) rent
4) red tape/regulation
5) ease of being able to fire employee
6) ease of being able to refuse service

All are objectively terrible in CA

When I didn't see us in the bottom 3 I just assumed they forgot about us altogether.

Corrupt litigant lawyers run our state. Is anyone surprised the regulations aren’t pro-business? At least Gordon has that awesome building.
