Good list for sculptures. A tad more obscure but worthy. Michelangelo's Moses (San Pietro vincoli) and Bernini's Teresa in Ectasy and Roy Moores 10 commandments tablets. Kidding.

Of the artworks that I've seen personally, the ones that stood out to me are the statue of David, the Venus de Milo, the Sistine Chapel and Notre Dame Cathedral. The Mona Lisa is completely underwhelming.

The statue of David is the most impressive piece of art I’ve ever seen. Just the detail in the veins under his skin are perfect. It is considered the world’s greatest sculpture.

It really is amazing. You took a great photo. But photos don't do it justice, it must be seen in person.

Sistine Chapel is the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen

My wife and I were discussing this the other day.
We’ve seen:
Mona Lisa
David
Venus de Milo
Sistine Chapel
The Night Watch
Pieta
The Milkmaid
Van Gogh self portrait
Artworks that could be in the top 5 that we haven’t seen would be:
Starry Night
The Girl with the Pearl Earring
American Gothic

I was legitimately moved by the Trevi Fountain. Not sure what it is, but I have to see it every time I go to Rome.
Although I’ve lost touch with my my catholic upbringing, the Sistine chapel is amazing.
Honorable mention, the winged victory

Saw all of those in person too and I agree with you. It seems like the Mona Lisa is the most hyped piece of art in the world but I didn’t get anything out of it. There were a lot more memorable things at the louvre alone.

There are several good duck drawings in this thread that may make the list.

1. Mona Lisa (Louvre)
2. Statue of David (Accademia)
3. Sistine Chapel Ceiling/Last Judgement
4. Starry Night (MoMA)
5. The Night Watch (Rijksmuseum)
