Cheramie and Terrebonne are very common in Lafourche and Terrebonne but probably not as much elsewhere.

You're right about that. My company has an office in Ville Platte with about 20 employees. 8 of the 20 are Fontenot's.

There's probably a lot of blending and crossing of French Creole and Cajun. Maybe that's why regional names are more common in certain areas.
