It's 95 degrees half of the year. I don't think people are going to start biking to work in July down Essen Lane anytime soon.

That's just it, if it were feasible to bike people would bike right now. They don't need the govt. to get them a bike.

I think it’s partly the mindset of the people that live in BR.
I have zero qualms and would rather bike to work than drive, nice to have the option to. BR doesn’t seem to even contemplate the option for some reason.

They had to shut this down in Baltimore because of all the bikes beings stolen.

Most people don't live within biking distance of their place of employment. Plus, it's pretty tough to get 2 kids to daycare or school when you're driving a Mongoose.

Maybe, but they sell bikes here. Why does the govt. need to get into the bike business especially as you keep insisting, there is no market.

What don't you understand about the following:
- As a city, Baton Rouge has a horrible design for bike riders. It's piss poor for driving, much less bike riding. Everything is spread way the frick out. It's not a centralized city grid that would promote a cross town bike path. Sure, they're working on a path from the Mall of Louisiana to just past Siegen Lane. Whoopty fricking doo.
- Are you willing to ride a bike by yourself down Highland Road? Make sure you go the scenic route through the Bottom. Hope you have a CC permit and are carrying.
- Baton Rouge needs lots of improvements, but on a list of improvements in order of necessity, this would be right around #30. I think even that's giving it way too much credit.
Having lived in Colorado, they are all about biking and using public transportation in cities like that. Do you wanna know why? Because their public transportation is not some ghetto bus with a concrete bench on a few select bus stops. They also don't have the crime we have. Even the example you provided (riding the street car) is way more feasible than riding CATS.

When I say Mobile it was actually the University of South Alabama. Homeless came in, stole most of the campus bikes and they found them all over the city.

If there's enough stations around LSU and around downtown, they will get used. However, I know there won't be, and all the bikes will get stolen immediately because the dumbass BRAF administrators never thought to shell out the extra money to lo-jack them.

Yeah i came in here saying I don’t know anything about this program, just stating that the residents of BR should try to start being more open minded about alternative transportation including biking trails and paths.
