Tom Benson's will names Gayle Benson as sole beneficiary, leaves estranged family out

"I specifically provide that Renee Benson, Rita LeBlanc, Ryan LeBlanc and all of their descendants shall have no interest in my succession whatsoever, and no legacy or other inheritance or benefit of any kind shall be paid to any of them under this will or otherwise," says the will, signed by Tom Benson and witnessed by Archbishop Gregory Aymond and two attorneys.

EDT: The article is likely very misleading. As others have pointed out, previous litigation resulted in his children getting a ton of money and/or assets. I think the will is confirmation that they will get nothing more. This was likely agreed upon in court.

I thought this was a foregone conclusion given the prior litigation.

My parents are divorced and obviously not as rich as TB but my dad's will doesn't mention his 46 yr old girlfriend (he's 68). I guess I wasn't that horrible to him as a teenager

What isn't mentioned is Gayle's estate.

Doesn't he have children that are living though?

The three Rs inherit through their mother, Benson's first and long-time wife. It wouldn't surprise me if they own a significant though non-controlling interest in the Saints. Their argument before the settlement was that Tom's assets outside the teams did not have enough value to satisfy what is owed to the three Rs.

slow your roll guys, wasnt the previous agreement all about where he agreed to give them their full inheritance money and whatever else of value (real estate and business interests other then saints pelicans) all so they would specifically have no claim to anything else after his death? im pretty damn sure that was the whole reason they all walked away from it with some big money to go away.

Maybe so. There was some kind of litigation and I can’t imagine the outcome being that his children got nothing from that. That would make sense

I think the article is misleading. I can believe Mr Benson disinherited the 3 Rs after all the bullshite they put him through, but they'll still get plenty from his lifetime of success. There was an Irrevocable Trust set up years ago with the 3 Rs named as the beneficiaries. It was primarily an estate planning tool to reduce the tax burden at his death.
The trust was originally funded with non-voting Saints stock, I believe. During the recent court fights, Benson tried to replace the stock with assets of similar value. Initially, he wanted to use a promissory note for $427 million. The 3 Rs lawyers balked at that. I'm note sure if it was the valuation, the note, or both. In any event, that trust isn't going away. The 3 Rs will continue to live a life of luxury of off their father/grandfather's business success.
They won't get any of his personal items, but they were only after his money anyway. They'll still be rich. Not as rich as Gayle, but still very rich.

Benson's first wife was named Shirley. They married in N.O. before they moved to San Antonio. They had three children, two girls and a boy. I think they were all adopted, but I'm not 100% sure about that. I know Renee was adopted. The son, Steven, died of cancer in the mid-80s. He was only in his 30s. I'm not sure what happened to the 2nd sister, but she's dead too. Shirley also died of cancer, I believe.
Benson's second wife was named Grace. She had some children (3?) but I guess they were adults were Benson married their mother and he never adopted them. Grace died of Parkinson's around 2002 or 2003.
Benson married Gayle pretty quickly after Grace died. It was probably only a year or so. I guess when you're 75-ish you don't have much time to waste.
There was a Benson biography that came out around 2015 or 2016. I can't remember the title or the author's name, but it was pretty good. It ended while the Tom vs Rita pissing contest was still going on.
