re: Tom Benson's will names Gayle Benson as sole beneficiary, leaves estranged family out

quote:
The love of money is the root of all evil. Evil to the point that man turns against his own children, grandchildren.
The Catholic church will paint him a saint only because he has given millions of dollars to them.
It is not mans's self defined good works that get one into heaven.
Well, his love for money allowed him to donate a lot of money that went to a lot of good things. And because of him, a lot of people have jobs. Ask Jarrius Robertson if he thinks Tom Benson is "evil".
And just because his children and grandchildren doesn't get to run the businesses he built, that allows him to donate millions of dollars and create jobs for a lot of people.. He is evil? It seems as if they expected to get everything he owned and let's say.. He didn't think they would be able to continue the success that generates the money that allows money to go to charities and organizations that use the money to help others. Is that evil?
And while some might not think that it's all that big of a deal that he owned a NFL & NBA team, the economic impact of having pro sports organizations in a city is huge. Not only does it help the hotel & restaurant industry in New Orleans, it helps small business owners, etc. And it creates jobs and it allows athletes who make a lot of money, to be in the city and they donate money to causes, etc. And having the venues where these teams play also allows the city to host other events. The Sugar bowl, national championships, NBA all star weekend, concerts, etc.
And whether or not you believe in god, support or don't support the Catholic church, he was a man of faith who gave to his faith.. And with New Orleans being a majority Catholic city, like anyone else who does a lot for their church and a lot for their city, he is getting recognized for it.
And it's not man's self defined good works that get one into heaven? What specifically gets one into heaven? Since everyone "sins" (i put in quotes because we probably have different views on what is considered a sin and the value of those sins), but I think if someone helps others, does not engage in anything that hurts people, if there is an afterlife that judges us for how we lived on Earth, I would think that would qualify someone to not spend eternity in hell.
One thing is for sure, if I ran an organization in which I depend strictly on what people donate, I would love for them to believe money is the root of all evil.. And buy donating their money, they are not putting what's evil above other things.

I can’t believe you wasted your time writing that garbage.

Sure, in the physical sense it is.. Obviously. Thanks for pointing that out.
But the word "ran" can also be used as an alternative to operate.

You and your three upvoters are ignorant as frick.
They constructively wrote themselves out of the will with their power hungry antics over the last several years.
LOL he tried to frick them by replacing their trusts ownership interests in the Saints and Pelicans with unsecured promissory notes — to give full ownership to his 4th wife. Yeah, was a great guy. Because his 4th wife obviously knows a ton about the management of two professional sports clubs. Lol dumbfrick

EDT: The article is likely very misleading. As others have pointed out, previous litigation resulted in his children getting a ton of money and/or assets. I think the will is confirmation that they will get nothing more. This was likely agreed upon in court.
Yea you're 100% right on that one. This was purely a "post-mordem Posture play" To make him feel good and his kids look bad, but it likely left out the actual outcome

Because she has no emotional vested interest in the Saints Organization at all.
You know the old adage that the 2nd generation usually runs the business into the ground? Well, she is not even the 2nd generation. She’s nothing more than some old bitty who married a man for his money. That doesn’t scream success to me.
