If we went from an owner who only cares about making $ to an owner that I assume would be very Mark Cuban like and just want to win at all costs

Frick Todd Graves and his shrinking chicken finger

I worked in college as a short order cook and eventually kitchen manager in a casual dining restaurant near campus. One of the other kitchen guys told us he was leaving, he had been hired as the KM in a new place that was right by school.
His first initial is "B" and he and I were basically the same age, he may have been a year younger, I really don't remember.
When I asked him about it, he explained there was this guy Todd and another dude that was opening it and their menu was going to be just chicken fingers and cole slaw and we all told him - "B" that is by far the stupidest idea for a restaurant we had ever heard of but good luck anyway and come back and work here when it shuts down.
For the record - I still think it is the stupidest idea for a restaurant I have ever heard of.

Cane’s opened on north side of LSU, and another business that was basically same concept opened off Lee & Highland at around same time (before Cane’s opened 2nd location in same area but closer to he winn Dixie).
I don’t know who was first with concept or first to actually open a location.

For the record…you aren’t worth “$7billion” so it must not have been that stupid of an idea??????? But I do hope you are loving that short order cook role at the Waffle House, only 10 more years and you will be manager…maybe
Just guessing but it sounds like “B” made the better choice…took the chance and got in when the getting was GREAT keep flipping those flapjacks you’ll get there one day, or not most likely

I remember them having canes sauce in a dispenser. Back when they first opened the second location on College Dr across from Bailey's and Noah's Ark.

I thought the second Canes was the one in the old race track hut next to Winn Dixie on Lee at Burbank. It’s a “new” building now.
That one is where we went the first time I had Canes. It was before the 1999 LSU/Arkansas game.

Bailey's? What was the story with that one. Much different ending, eh?

Damn. He has more money than Bill Goldring. Louisiana has a new number one.

He lived in BR in college? He didn't attend LSU.

His friend and Co founder was Craig Silvey.

I get Lee and College mixed up.
The second Canes was near Burbank directly across the street from Bailey's. Baileys was getting killed by Canes so they ran that $1 off with student ID combo that made their box $4.15 with drink while Canes was $5.35. Baileys had the same menu except the toast was different.

No one/business/entity would pay 8 billion dollars for Raising Canes. These things are all hypothetical written by valuation nerds. The free market would value that much less IMO.
Maybe it’s been addressed elsewhere in the thread, but they aren’t saying his stake in Cane’s is worth $7.6 billion. They are estimating his net worth at $7.6 billion. His net worth would also include any other investments he has made with his earnings from Cane’s so far - which is why the article cites the estimated valuation of Cane’s plus the dividends he has received up to this point.

Agreed. It amazes me how these billionaires can't walk away.
