Aholes should have looked at some books about AngloSaxon clothing. The styles evolved to cover feet with minimal hide usage (helps that the styles evolved to use the left over bits).

Styles that could reuse the less worn parts-lagniappe.

Definitely not restricted to one continent.

Also, see loincloths.

Minnetonka President Jori Miller Sherer, Reconciliation Adviser Adrienne Benjamin and CEO David Miller (from left to right)

To better address the needs of the Native American community, Minnetonka has hired Adrienne Benjamin (above). She is a Minnesotan, Anishinaabe, and a member of the tribe Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe

Did someone ask for this, or are all of these companies falling on a sword that didn't exist?

From their website

quote:

The company was named after nearby Lake Minnetonka

So why are they apologizing?

Not that I think they would need to anyways, but they named their company after a nearby lake, after some Indian tribe. I don't care where the origins of the lakes name comes from.

Why aren’t they turning over ownership to the indigenous people? Hiring one person isn’t doing squat.

In Wisconsin that would entitle you to a monthly or quarterly cut of the casino profits depending on which tribe you were a member of. And it's not exactly chump change either.

quote:

While Ho-Chunk adults get a $12,000 annual dividend payout made in four installments, children have to wait for the money, which builds in a trust fund throughout their childhoods and is given in one lump sum after they turn 18 and earn a high school diploma.

ETA: I'm not sure if 1/8 would get you the full cut noted above, but I believe my dad's wife is 1/10 or something and gets some money.

My wife used to really like these shoes. I have seen these things sold by Native American owned businesses.

You have to figure that every people group, somewhere down their line of ancestors, went through a moccasin type shoe stage.
