Yep. I knew several guys lost that day. I have a burning hatred for Mark Miley for leaving men to die on the battlefield while he looked for a safer ingress route for the QRF. He was in command of the 10th Mtn which was the QRF.

The Night Stalker compound has a wall dedicated to the crews of those two aircraft it’s pretty moving. My son has spent some time with Mike Durant. He’s still messed up over that day.

I taught high school history to one of those brave warriors. I didn’t realize he was involved until I read the book and watched the movie. BHD is one of the darker events in our recent history!!

Randy Shughart and Gary Gordon should be household names all across America.

Still remember my uncle (Vietnam - Army Ranger LRRP) saying after he saw the movie that it was the most realistic one he had ever seen and that he could’ve killed more “skinnys” with a .22.

It’s a fantastic film. Love the Eric Bana scenes.

Worked pretty closely with a couple of guys who were there - a Batt boy on the extraction team and a C Squadron guy who was in the thick of it.

Neither talk much about it, and when they do, they are visibly different. They’re pretty candid/brutally honest about it - and even to guys who have been in their fair share, that was on a completely different level.

If you left that movie more angry at Mogadishu than our Government, I think you missed the point. Our soldiers should have never been there in the first place.

Third world country is going to third world country, However our inept useless Government playing GI Joe and throwing our servicemen into these places with not a second thought......that is what makes my blood boil.

If anyone has not seen “13 Hours” watch it as well as you will feel the same after that one. Infuriating .

Agreed. I’ve only seen it once because of how angry I become afterwards.

I rewatched it’s other day and could’ve sworn when I originally saw it back in the day she showed real footage of bodies being paraded around.

Shughart and Gordon were as brave as it gets.

For those not aware, the military operations in urban terrain (MOUT) training facility on Fort Polk is named after them. Its called the Shughart-Gordon facility.

You're 100% correct. The Battle of Mogadishu changed US foreign policy for years.

Most upset I’ve ever been while watching a movie. I wanted to fight the dude who had the audacity to get up and go to the bathroom in the middle of the it.

Americans died because people in the government didn’t have the balls to do what needed to be done. They didn’t have a problem sending Americans to a 3rd World shithole, yet they lacked the balls to nip it in the bud. Now 30 years later China is all over the continent of Africa spreading communist BS to a lot of people that don’t know any better. What happened in Somalia opened the door to China to come in and do what their currently doing.
