Today, in broad daylight, 4 yutes tried to culturally appropriate my employees bike

One of my employees had a bike given to her by another staff member. She had it in the bed of her truck parked in my busy parking lot.
Around three this afternoon, I just happened to look out at the parking lot and noticed 4 yutes, approximately 13-14 years old, riding their bikes in my parking lot.
They caught my attention so I decided to watch what they were up to. They looked around at the cars parked in the lot and then one of them put his attention onto the truck. I watched as he tried to open the locked tailgate. He then reached into the bed of the truck and tried to take the bike. I ran outside and told him that the bike was not his and told him to get the frick out of here. He complied and left with the rest of his thug friends.
I was struck by two things with this encounter: how calm they were when I caught them trying to steal and how unusual it was to see this type of activity in the Bocage area of Baton Rouge.
Don't leave anything of value in your vehicle and keep aware of your surroundings.

Don’t make thieves out of people who wouldn’t otherwise be thieves.
At that moment anyway.
ETA: sarcasm just flies over y’all doesn’t it?

Call their fathers and inform them of the incident

My wife’s road bike was stolen out of the back of my truck last week when I was in McLavy’s. The 70806 needs to pay attention.

Where would you have her put it?

bikes are prone to get stolen in any neighborhood, anywhere. This isn’t the 1960’s anymore, lock your bikes up.

They were probably going to pump up the tires and put it right back I'm sure.

This is her fault. Just saying.

They were probably Mormon and were just gonna borrow it to help with their missionary work.
