I’ve never had to untangle an icicle light, and have put them up for decades. When putting them away, don’t put them on a roll like other string lights. Just lay each strand down in a box, one by one, on top of each other, and you will never have an issue.

Roll them up in a ball, I have hundreds of strings for a lights to music show, ball method is tried and true with light show people. Bonus, you don’t have to store them as carefully with the ball method either.
