So confident was Stockton in those systems he bragged that the safest place in the world for five people was in that sub.
So basically, he bragged the sub was unsinkable.
Oh, the irony.

Where exactly are you seeing this thread over there?

Wonder if there will be a new international law on safety inspections and required non-destructive testing for manned, deep sea vehicles in the near future. Call it "The Titan Rule" They usually name this stuff after the tragedy

probably better to go out that way vs. freezing your arse for days at the bottom of the ocean until the oxygen runs out

Sub was a pressurized vessel. The titanic was split open. The rear of the ship turned 180 degrees bc of the implosion of the rear air tight compartments.

The last 2-3 pages have updates from the OP (BQ78)...

On that Texags thread where the OP's company was asked to assist with the search...the OP says the Coast Guard told them about the acoustic anomaly (of the implosion) on Monday morning.
Well, it wasn't exactly a secret. I believe the equipment that registered the anomaly has data that is publicly accessible.

how has the Titanic basically maintained it's form?
It wasn't fully pressurized and parts of it did implode where there were air pockets (most notably the stern). Once it hit the ocean floor the pressure equaled out.

They did send a distress message to the mothership just before implosion. Probably heard the hull cracking.

Wendy Rush, wife of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who has been missing in a submersible after embarking on an expedition to see the wreckage of the Titanic, is related to victims of the Titanic sinking, The New York Times reported Wednesday.
Wendy Rush is the great-great-granddaughter of Isidor and Ida Straus, according to The New York Times. The Strauses were first-class passengers, with Isidor being a co-owner of the department store R.H. Macy.

Seems like the searchers and media knew all along these guys were doomed, but kept the general public guessing to draw more attention to this story

they would make multiple dives and most of them resulted in an abort because of some issue with the sub. Success rate for actually making it to the bottom wasn't that great.
If we started looking at the number of aborted dives for manned deep sea missions we would need a bigger thread to account for them. In that line of work there will always be more aborted dives than successful ones, no matter the sub or who is running it. That's just how it is.

I know the sensors in Newfoundland registered something but I am also wondering if an US asset in the water (submarine, etc.) also picked something up. I would expect that to be more sensitive and not publicly available.

Maybe a dumb question, but with how much pressure there is at that depth, how has the Titanic basically maintained it's form? I know it's built a lot sturdier but I would assume at some point it would have collapsed.
Parts that had air trapped collapsed very early during the sinking. The entire ship was filled with water well before it was that deep. Without air pockets there was nothing to collapse with pressure.
Steel itself isn't going to collapse.

If there was an implosion picked up and known by Monday morning then why in the hell have we spent 3 days getting people worked up in a “rescue” attempt??
It’s stuff like this that causes people to lose trust in governments, corporations,‘and society.

Have to figure with woods hole there is a lot more underwater technology accessible to the us navy than the public will ever know. Waiting until rov confirms wreckage/debris keeps some kind of level of separation between a statement Monday they know exactly what took place.
