I love my wife dearly. But we'd kill each other if we couldn't get some time just watching TV alone.

There's no such thing as privacy in a tiny house.

Part of the allure is since it is on wheels there is no building codes to follow. And of course it can be easily relocated.

A week is about as long as I want to go in my RV.

Now, I can see downsizing a house to something reasonable... even something as small as 800sf. But 200sf for a family... hell no.

I could maybe do it if I was single and was able to travel around a bunch.

However, I think it's pretty fricked up to make your kids grow up like that.

Hell no.

I've got a 40 ft. park model RV with 3 slides, 2 bedrooms, living room/kitchen and seperate bathroom, and it has more living area than most "tiny houses".

Most of those tiny houses are built on 30 ft. utility trailers, don't have slides and are less than 300 square feet. My fricking living room in my home is larger than that.

For the cost of those stupid things, you could buy an 80 ft. mobile home.

Yep, not looking for anything on wheels. I want a small cabin, an A-frame would be just fine.

My family of three lived in a 600 sf cabin while waiting for our house to be built on our property. It wasn't that bad and made us see what we actually "needed".
We moved from a 2500 sf house into it and then into a 3100sf home. We again have the stuff that we never use.
After the adjustment it isn't that bad.

One good healthy shite can clear all the inhabitants out of half of my much larger current house. I can only imagine what would happen in one of those sardine cans.

Yeah, I've been headed that way in life for a few years. Simplify, only what I really need. I've been downsizing for a while. I'm thinking more along the lines of something like this

That's my question. Why don't these idiots just buy a really nice RV

We went from well over 3000 square ft to under 600.

It's actually kind of nice.

Our next place will be 2200ish but only one bedroom.

I miss having the space for parties

But I see some of those stupid frickers on that show spending $70-$80k for that when they could have bought a really nice travel trailer for less than half of that.

Joe Wheeler State Park near here has some cabins similar to that on the river, from 1-4 BR and I could live in those easy peasy.

I saw one where they bought a tiny house in Jackson Hole, WY for over $200k in some tiny home trailer park. Now I get real estate in Jackson Hole is only for hip OT ballers, but gatdamn, they could have bought a 40' diesel pusher RV for that much that is bigger and nicer.

Most people who supported it are using "I" in this thread vs "we".
