Typically overpriced and too small to live in but they do make a good TV show.

They would be fine if there wasn’t a woman involved. With a woman, you need at least 3000 sq feet.

Even if I was single I'd not want to live in one.

I think one on a piece of property by a lake or some far away place would be nice for a get-away for a few days, but not to live in.

I’m fascinated by small homes and apartments. Most of them are in NYC and Europe. High-end, efficient use of space is a great combo.

This bullshite they show on tv is glorified camping. “Only $30k for the home”. Ok... you still have to buy land that is zoned for this type of dwelling and sqft/occupant and that’s not even talking about capital upgrades for utilities.

You would be better off buying a trailer.

I sometimes wonder if the lofts are included in the square feet measurement.

I'd like one, just not one of those overpriced trailers.

Something like a cabin, or yurt

I live in one. Bought it cash and put it on inherited land. I couldnt do it if I had a family and didnt have a huge barn to dick off in. I basically sleep in it or go warm up/cool off in it. The ole lady hates it because I'm financially free and often leave for weeks at a time.

So sounds like you have another house where your wife lives? Guess that makes you a multiple home owner then? In that case, ‘living’ in a tiny home wouldnt be so bad.

But i kind of agree with other posters that why not just buy an RV? Doesn’t seem like the price or square footage would be much different, plus you could get out on the open road and travel in it occasionally , something you cant necessarily do in a tiny home.

“Only $30k for the home”. Ok.

I like the ones where they say they're doing it to downsize and lower their bills, so they buy a lot in an urban market and put up a 300k fart box. There has to be an easier way.

Depends on what you enjoy. I built a pretty small one and lived in it off grid for about 8 years. I prefer to spend time outdoors so I had a garden, greenhouse, nice deck, etc. It was just me so it was fairly easy. I also worked out before work so I used the sauna and shower there. My only bills were my gym membership, car insurance, and a cell phone. I did a RV to go Sat TV package from Aug-Dec. Saved quiet a bit of cash towards retirement.

We also have a true tiny house here at work for seasonals passing through and they seem to enjoy it. If I had to do it again I’m not sure I wouldn’t just go with a nice canvas wall tent if I could keep insects out.

I’ve Airbnb a few in the mountains out west and find them pleasant for a few nights. No way in hell I would live in one permanently though. More power to the skilled craftsmen who design them though.

My cabin is pretty small at 700sqft. It gets difficult at times if I bring the gf with me or a few of the guys.

I could never do it for my primary residence.

It has been said before, but it is amazing what a man can live with if he isn’t trying to impress/get a woman.

The difference in the rv’s that I am aware of and these tiny houses is that the rv’s simply aren’t built good enough for everyday use. Little things like cabinet doors and light switches start to fall apart after a while. I don’t know for sure, but I get the impression that the tiny houses aren’t built as shoddily.
