I’ve had surgery for Otosclerosis in one ear 7 years ago. Scheduled for other ear in November. Calcification of the stapes bone . Mine was strictly due to hearing loss. I do now have ringing in the ear I’m having done but it’s not continuous. Good luck listen to your Dr.

Honestly there are a wide range of potential causes.
A lot of my hearing issues were caused by middle ear infections which, in turn, were related to allergies causing fluid to back up in my head.
My kids have had issues and at least some of that has been an accumulation of earwax / fluid which, at times, has condensed into effectively a small stone in their ear which made loud noises an issue.
Being around high decibel noises without proper protection can also do it (jet engines, loud music, etc) along with being in situations where there are massive changes in air pressure, as your eardrums may not be able to cope well by moving fluid around to compensate.
There’s also potentially genetic components as well as long term damage caused by being on some medications.
It’s a huge rabbit hole to go down and it may take quite a while for the docs to find the correct answer.

Used to bug the hell out of me but I've gotten used to it. It bugged me alot more when I was stress out from other things. Alot easier to ignore if you handle stress or anxiety issues.

Had it 20+ years. Partly from loud noise exposure and possibly inner ear issues. You get used to it. Maybe stay well hydrated and avoid sodium.

Had SSHL (sudden sensory hearing loss) in 2020, lost about half my hearing in my left ear in one instant. Crazy ringing started and worried the crap out of me. Got steroid injections in the ear, hearing improved slightly, ringing got better slightly, but for the most part, you just kinda forget about it after awhile and adapt. One of the amazing things about the human brain and our bodies.

2 years of BRM (Basic Rifle Marksmanship) with countless privates shooting down range killed my ears and that was years ago.

Had it for 8 years now. Artificial sweeteners will make mine unbearable. Large smog sugar pretty bad. Docs won’t help. I suggest you try eliminating each of the above to test. Also add high amounts of salt and aspirin

You will learn to live with it. That's all I can tell you. Sometimes its piercing and bothersome and sometimes I forget it's even there. Just depends.

Yep started about 10 years ago courtesy of these in the 80s/90s...

Something I read that helps my (not severe) tinnitus. When the ringing starts, put your palms on your ears and wrap your fingers around the back of your neck so the middle finger tips don't quite touch. Looking straight forward, lift your middle fingers up off your neck and snap or thump them (sounds like a hollow thump) into your neck several times.
The ringing just...disappears. Works for my wife too, couldn't begin to explain why but don't care. frick tinnitus.
Woah! This legit helps. Thank you.

i havent read through all the posts but i have also had tinnitus off and on through last 2 decades.
its kinda end symptom of many different things and not understood very well.
for me, i found it was stress related and induced from grinding my teeth. i started wearing a mouth guard specifically made by my dentist at nights. that reduced the grinding. ontop of that just trying stress relieving tactics.
that worked for me and might not for you. hopefully you can find something that helps. i went through MRIs. CTs, audio tests, various oral treatments, Chinese ancient techniques before finding that. it still comes back from time to time and its always there on a very low level if i try to pick it out. you partially get used to tuning it out.

My grandpa had tinnitus pretty bad. He got it from shooting down Jap Zeros in his F4F Hellcat. Wasnt much of a runner though
Love it
I have learned to ignore the ringing. Hopefully someday they figure out a cure.

Sleep with a sound machine or find you a good app on your phone that has something similar. It has helped me a ton. At least I get better sleep now

For ms, DietCoke, or anything with aspartame sweetener, made my tinnitus scream,
Very interesting. When I cut refined sugar out 100%, my tinnitus went away and hasn't returned. I also cut every artificial sweetener as well, although I never used much of it anyway.

I’ve honestly had this in my right ear for over the past 3-4 years… along with 70% of hearing loss in my right ear… it sucks it does but you honestly get used to it and I guess learn to ignore it until someone says something or you read it lol… also some days it gets worse than others but one thing is for it never goes away

My ears have been ringing for the last 3 years. I just ended up spending a lot of money with doctors that never gave any answers. You get used to it.
