Times when you can tell a server is holding back on giving you a larger portion of food

You have a plate and you are being given food for a meal you paid for. You can always tell when the person with the tongs is trying to give you the minimum amount acceptable, to save money or whatever. They get a look in their eyes and their hand movements slow down.

Charity events, some bbq places, possibly a wedding reception, etc.

I giggled. But I've never noticed anyone's body language when they're skimping on the portion sizes. Or notice they're skimping for that matter

Our deli/cafeteria at work had a black chef/server. He would load up the black wimmens' plates with a big smile and hide ham and sausage under the grits in a bowl. They ate cheap and often. He in turn skimped on us hawnkee plates to break even.
