They can. But it make it miserable. You have to enjoy being hungry and able to resist the urges you’ll have to succumb to temptation.

Where is the cdaniel update thread?

His creepy fatass took the opposite tactic. He did weight loss surgery and spammed the board with updates for a while. I'm assuming he is in that 70+% that gained it all back after the surgery.

Since I was 24, I’ve weighed as little as 167 and as much as 317 lbs.

I'm trying something similar but stay hungry all the freaking time, it's annoying.

I think they can as well. However, I also think it depends on what you drink. For example, if you drink a few whiskey cokes, I think that you'll have to make up a lot more ground than if you drink the same number of vodka sodas. However, I'm no health expert, so the difference could very well be negligible.

Keep up the good work.

Maybe incorporate some biking into your workout. I do 30-1 hour 5 times a week on the bike follow by 30min-1hour of weights and I eat 2000 calories a day on average. It keeps me in the 190-200 range at 17%bmi

I found that this goes away. I'll add don't eat fruit high in sugar as snack. That's not going to help, I stick to berries, strictly blue berries.

Better off just eating veggies or nuts as a snack.

Congrats.

I've recently decided to stop eating crap and see how it goes. To the extent that I can help it, I won't be eating any more sugar or refined carbohydrates, and instead of a full dinner having a small salad or something. Definitely nothing big after 5.

First off congratulations, it's a huge accomplishment and I know your body feels the difference.

That being said

I haven't been on a "diet". I just cut my portions WAY down and eating more fruits, vegetables, no fast food, no pizza, no cheat meals for 6 weeks, intermittent fasting, 1 gallon of water/day.

This is what we as a society needs to do. The meal portions of 2019 are substantial and majority of us (even healthy ones) are bad at this. It's about a lifestyle change, not a dietary restriction. Making your portions go from a 1000 calorie meal to 700 calories doesn't change what you eat, but just the amount.

For example
1 Popeyes chicken breast 420cal
1 Popeyes chicken thigh 280cal
1 Popeyes biscuit 260cal
Totals to 960 calories

Cut out half a biscuit and swapping the thigh for a drum goes from 260 calories to 130 calories and 280 calories to 170 calories.

240 calories saved and you still enjoy it.

Popeyes fried chicken probably isn't a good example, change the chicken to roasted, baked, blackened.

I mean it's relative, you have to understand who you're trying to convince.

People in Louisiana and Southern states have horrible diets. They refuse to quit eating the things they love, they refuse to swap it out for a healthier option as well.

You're better off saying hey, go from catfish Fridays and 2 large pieces to just 1 and a half than it is to change it to baked fish Fridays.

Drastic changes are harder for people to follow

You don't tell a smoker to quit cold turkey, you tell them to make goals to cut down. From a pack to half a pack to half a pack to a few cigarettes to none. Same thought process, but maybe it's just who I work with

You can call it whatever you would like, I did it To average 3 pounds/week someone would have to burn 1500 calories/day more than they take in. So think how easy that is.

Right now my BMR (basic metabolic rate) is 1635 calories. That’s the calories my body burns per day if I did absolutely nothing but lay on the couch and not move all day. My Fitbit, although not completely accurate, says I burn about 4000-4500 calories/day with all the walking I do and working out

I actually do tell smokers to quit cold turkey, that's how I did it.

I understand everyone's different, but the problem is people think they can keep eating unhealthy foods and lose weight if they just cut back a little.(and some people really don't know any better)

They don't need to go on a diet, they need to change their lifestyle if they want to be healthy. And they need good information even if it's a tough pill to swallow.
