That said… he is for sure a pilot.

I’m not saying he’s not, but, I wonder why he flew rotorcraft in the military, now flying commercial jets. 2 totally different type certificates, And totally different missions…

It has 400 detention beds, receives buses from the ICE jails in rural communities around the state and is run by one of the nation's largest private prison contractors, GEO Group Inc.

"Historically, it’s a facility that people will go to in the couple of days before their removal flight, because it’s attached to the airport and ICE Air"

Looks like LA has landed a growth industry, with no state subsidies.

Plus we finally have an airline hub - for ICE Air. No-cost direct flights to Latin America and beyond!

she says they get better treatment than any American in this country.

You actually believe this? And apparently others do too based on up votes. You think prisoners getting govt rationed care in a pre deportation temp holding facility are recieving better care than even the best private hospital provides "any American in this country." Repeating patently absurd rhetoric like that just undermines the cause of border enforcement.

Perhaps, they're getting better treatment than she witnessed at Rapides or Cabrini but I'm certain she isnt providing the best medical care $ can buy in the USA.

Too bad these aren't military operated flights so we could take Space-A to some sweet S. American destinations.

that place is more than a fade away. You almost have to try to hit it on it.

They fly directly over my house. The largest one is some sort of 4 engine job that is as loud as a C-5.

Yea, I have questions myself. I've got 20 hours working on my PPL, so I have just general aviation questions for my own understanding.

He is a clean cut south Louisiana honkey, so I've given him benefit of doubt up to this point. Like I said, dude is always flying somewhere, so it's been hard to sit him down for a cigar and a drink to pick his brain.

Right now it is more jail, they are filling it up as fast as sending out, having to hold them longer than they would like. Just had a 747 fly over house. Hard to know if it is for the ICE folks or coming in for service for Pride aviation, but sure have been a whole lot of large passenger planes coming in of late. Id say 3-4 a day.

fly out of there 4-5 times a year. Great for catching an early morning flight to Atlanta.

I used to fly out of there periodically when I flew Delta because the only connecting flight from Lafayette didn't leave until 10:45 for years. It never took me more than 10 minutes to wait and go through TSA there.

Makes sense. It's an old Air Force Base, so it probably has the facilities.

A guy who lives next door to my grandmother works there. A few months ago he said you wouldn’t believe the facilities and people we deport from AEX. I guess ole baw is telling the truth.

was a fighter base for decades, wonder what they are doing with the old airport?
They turned it into a regional airport. It actually has a very nice terminal and is served by American Airlines and Delta.
